Last night, about 3:42 A.M. my dog had a bad dream and started howling. I went to give him a comforting hug and I grabbed something else... At first I thought it was a blanket or a pillow, but then I saw the blankets move as if something were going under the bed from atop it. What could it be? Please respond...

Sounds to me like one of those moments when in the middle of the night you go to scratch an itch and discover with shock that it's a spider, very creepy.
On the paranormal side, I've never actually heard of a story like yours so I'm afraid I can't be of to much help, though lets break it down, you hugged something that wasn't supposed to be there but it had a physical form, it was the middle of the night and probably dark?
Could it have been your dog?
Other than that, very interesting story, I've just realized I haven't ever heard of an account of someone physically grabbing say a ghost, if that's what it was.
Maybe some of the other forum members can be of help?
Oh, and welcome to the forums.

Maybe a rodent, a big one at that. Seriously though...I have no idea.

I've been looking around a little for similar stories but I can't seem to find any, they mainly involve ghosts touching people but not the other way around.
As for spirit animals I don't know a whole lot apart from the spirit animals involved in my own culture.
Sorry but I'm stumped.

Can't be a rodent, not big enough where I live.
